queued, gets its own work conversation and wakes the Agent.
An Agent can take a Task only when it is active, its autonomy is not manual, and it has the task tools (including FinishTask and FailTask). Otherwise creating the Task is refused with a message that says what is missing, for example “Docs R1 can’t take tasks yet … a task runs on its own, so it needs Supervised or Autonomous.” The app’s Set up for tasks button fixes both; see Give an Agent a task.
While it runs you can comment on it, see its activity and files, stop it, and resume it. When the Agent finishes, fails, or needs you, it reports back, in the chat it started from when there is one. You review a finished Task from the Tasks list.
When the Agent finishes, the Task shows its result and waits for your review (Approve or Request changes). A Task that already finished cannot be stopped (409).
A Task has an id and a visible number (#42). Both open the same Task.
