# Routines and memory

> Scheduled runs, webhooks, and what Agents remember.

## Routines

A Routine is a named prompt with a trigger:

* **Schedule** — a cron expression (five fields, or `@hourly`, `@daily`, `@weekly`, `@monthly`, `@yearly`) and an IANA time zone.
* **Webhook** — a URL that starts the run when called. The secret you set is write-only: after saving, only its last four characters are shown.

You can pause, resume, run now and read the run history of a Routine. A Routine run is unattended, so tools that need your approval are not auto-approved for it.

## Memory

Memory is stored as records with a scope:

| Scope | Visible to |
| - | - |
| Agent | that Agent only |
| You | all your Agents |
| Project | a Conversation that carries that project key |
| Group | members of that Group |

A new Conversation does not erase memory. Agents can list, update and forget their own memories, and you can edit them from the Agent's memory page. Steps: [Teach an Agent to remember](/guides/teach-an-agent-to-remember.md).
