# Agents

> What an Agent is and what you can configure on it.

An Agent is a persistent assistant. You create it from **Agents** and edit it on its own pages: details, edit, memory, routines, sessions and Computer.

## What belongs to an Agent

* **Persona and settings** — the instructions and options you set in the editor.
* **Autonomy level** — `manual` (every tool call asks you), `supervised` (only tools marked as needing approval ask; this is the API default) or `autonomous` (no approvals, still bounded by the tool list and the spend limit). An Agent you create in the app's **New agent** form starts with no tools and `manual` autonomy. See [Approvals](https://docs.worksong.ai/worksong/approvals.md).
* **Tools** — an Agent only ever sees the tools it has been given. Autonomy decides whether an available tool pauses for you; it never adds tools.
* **Memory** — see [Routines and memory](https://docs.worksong.ai/worksong/routines-and-memory.md).
* **Routines** — scheduled or webhook-triggered runs.
* **Skills, connections and tool servers** — see [Connections, Skills and Tool servers](https://docs.worksong.ai/worksong/connections-skills-tool-servers.md).
* **Computer** — one remote desktop per Agent. See [Computer](https://docs.worksong.ai/worksong/computer.md).
* **Daily budget** — a spend limit per Agent, next to an account-wide daily limit under your profile.
* **Computer and sandbox hours** — a daily time limit per Agent. See below.

## Agents talking to each other

An Agent can message another of your Agents. A chain limit (a setting under your profile) stops two Agents from replying to each other without end.

## Tools that are not available here

Some built-in tools, such as **Bash** and **Write**, are kept off in this deployment on purpose. In the Agent editor they show **not available here** instead of *granted*, cannot be switched on, and a line points you to the cloud sandbox, which runs commands and makes files instead. If an Agent already has one saved, it can still be cleared. When an Agent tries to use such a tool, it tells you plainly that it is not available and does not ask you to send another message.

## Computer and sandbox hours

Each Agent has a daily limit for time on its Computer and in the sandbox. Set it in the Agent editor under **Computer & sandbox hours per day**; leave it empty to use the account default (8 hours today). The smallest value is 0.5 hours. The editor shows how much was used today ("Used today: 1.5 h of 8 h"). When an Agent reaches its limit, **Raise today's limit** adds a step of 2 hours for today only, up to a fixed daily maximum of 24 hours, and the limit resets at 00:00 UTC. You get a notification at 80% of the limit and another when it is reached, and the notification offers **Raise today's limit**.
